Graduates Hire
Large investment banks and asset managers recruit many graduates directly from universities each year. They offer initial training programs and accept candidates from various degree disciplines, not just finance or economics.
However, recruits must have strong academic records, typically from top universities or business schools.
Experienced Hire
Smaller brokerage firms and asset managers often recruit experienced sell-side analysts with proven track records, expecting them to be desk-ready.
There are also opportunities for lateral hires—professionals transitioning into research roles from outside the industry. Lateral hires usually need at least three years of experience in a specific industry and ideally a finance or economics degree.
Alternatively, three years in financial advisory roles, such as accounting or consulting, may also be sufficient.
